One Plus has been the ‘flagship killer’ smartphone brand. In recent times, they have been producing such astonishing phones, which are proven to be the best in the line. Today, One Plus is a renowned brand in the software market. Here you can know about One Plus 6T McLaren Edition.
The latest edition to the One Plus family is their One Plus 6 and the One Plus 6T. Both have been a brilliant flagship category phone. The specs of the phone are awesome. No wonder when it hit the market, it was selling like hotcakes.
After a month or so, the company started to tell themselves, ‘Hey! Aren’t we all about speed? So why aren’t we representing something which has the same goal as us?’ Then the first name which you will think of when you talk about speed is Cars. And when you speak about cares which are beast, in other words, you proudly remember the name, McLaren.
McLaren is the British king in the tracks, as it is one of the most celebrated racing team/supercar manufacturers in the world. McLaren stands for sheer speed, so do the little beast in our pocket is the One Plus 6T.
So why don’t they collaborate
They were the best of both worlds. This thought resulted in One Plus teaming up with McLaren and made their signature series, The One Plus 6T McLaren Edition!
It was designed for people who love cars. Or fast-moving cars and phones are one of the biggest aspects. No matter what the targeted audience is and how the phone will react, one thing is pretty sure. This phone has a lot to offer from the word go!
As we speak, this phone comes with a premium-looking box. The box itself is pretty exciting as we can see carbon fiber finish on the box. The box ‘Salutes to Speed.’ This bold statement does compliment McLaren and One Plus indeed.
When we open the box
there is a book, and the book represents the history of One Plus and McLaren. One Plus does know how to create a hype! The phone is inside the book. The other essentials like the power brick, the branded charger cable, a cool carbon fiber case, a SIM ejection tool is inside the box. Another cool thing is that there is a McLaren Carbon Fiber Emblem that is included inside the box.
This phone is a limited edition. So it will cost you some extra bucks. Bust seeing the slight boost from the previous 6T, I reckon the money is worth it. But let us first see what this device is really capable of.
One Plus 6T McLaren Edition Review: Salute to Speed!
Yet another year, yet another One Plus flagship. When I was reviewing the One Plus 6T. I was already dazzled by the features of it. But little did I know that One Plus had other plans! Just a month after the One Plus 6T launched, they launched the One Plus 6T McLaren Edition. We have our review unit in our hands. Before going to give an overall impression, I would like to examine this bad boy in certain criteria. This inspection will give me a proper understanding of the phone’s capability. The categories are:
- Design
- Display
- Performance
- Camera
- Battery
- Sensors and Other Features
- Water Resistance
So without further ado, let us salute to speed!
The Design of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition: The Papaya Orange Accent!
As you have read on the heading, you might have guessed that there is something special done with the iconic papaya orange color of McLaren cars. Yes, One Plus has indeed paid tribute to the speedster. But you might be wondering that the full phone is now orange. For your kind information, no, it has a carbon fiber back, very classy. The real magic kicks in when you tilt the phone. You will be able to see some mystical papaya orange accent going around the edges. This is pretty cool, to be honest.
Other than that, the phone is pretty decent and identical to the One Plus 6T. The dimension of the phone is 6.20 inches in length, 2.94 inches in width, and 0.32 inches in breadth. The phone is weighted at around 185 grams. The frame is made out of high-grade aluminum. The backside is carbon fiber, as I told you guys before, and the front is basically the display, which means it is made out of glass.
As far as the attributes are concerned
it is still the same as its mother model. The Google Assistant button and the Lock cum Power button is on the right side of the phone. On the left side is where the volume adjustment button is placed alongside the SIM Tray.
On the top, there is a secondary noise-canceling microphone. And on the bottom, One Plus has decided to set the all-important USB Type C charging port and the speaker grills for the stereo speakers.
The Papaya Orange Accent does bring a punch to the phone, and the Carbon fiber back with the McLaren engraving does take the phone to a whole new level. I definitely like this phone as far as the design is concerned. This phone is a state of a class, indeed. People who are in class and style statement will like this phone very much.
Well done, One Plus! The accent does loo unique and eye-pleasing! Now let us move on to the next topic. We will discuss the display of the One Plus 6T McLaren Edition.

The Display of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition: The AMOLED Excellence!
The display is the same as of the One Plus 6T. So, the user experience is as great as the One Plus 6T. The display is a full high definition Optic AMOLED screen. It is a 6.41-inch screen. The resolution of the screen is 1080 pixels into 2340 pixels. So you will be able to enjoy all the video contents in full HD. The aspect ratio is 19:5:9, as the teardrop notch is inserted on the screen as well. As for the screen to body ratio, it is almost close to 85.6%. So, it is a big screen. The bottom bezel is very narrow, and the screen does give you a very impressive bezel-less screen experience.
Overall the display is one of the best in the business so far. No wonder One Plus brags themselves to be the flagship killers in the smartphone world! I would definitely recommend to people who are a bit picky as the screen quality is concerned.
Now let us move on to the next segment, which is perhaps my favorite part of any smartphone. We are gonna talk about the performance of the phone.
Performance of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition: The Speedster with a Hectic RAM!
The biggest improvement in this McLaren edition is perhaps in the performance section. One Plus did take the ‘Salute to Speed’ slogan very seriously. Maybe that is why they have pushed themselves a little bit further from the already hit performance of the One Plus 6T. So what is all the hype about? I will break it down for you.
In order to judge the performance of a certain smartphone, we will have to understand the collaboration of the software and the hardware unit. The more they are compatible with each other, the more the performance standards are. We will also see what this phone has to offer in the said units.
Apple iPhone 11 Pro Review
The Hardware of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition
Speaking of hardware, this phone has an identical chipset of One Plus 6T. So, the chipset is manufactured by Qualcomm, and it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. This 10 nm Octa-Core chipset is clocked at 2.8 GHz. It is a flagship category chipset. The Graphics Processing Unit, AKA GPU is Adreno 630.
The RAM is the section where One Plus 6T McLaren Edition made the initial improvement. It has upgraded to 10 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 256 GB. There is no SD Card slot. That means you won’t be able to expand your storage. But with 256 GB on the phone, I think you won’t be needing any external storage support.
The Software of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition
This phone runs in Android, and the version is Android 9.0, which is commonly known as the PIE. One Plus phones run in their signature UI, which is the Oxygen OS. Oxygen OS is basically the stock skin with some extra benefits. So it is pretty handy and efficient o0n at the same time.
The main change or addition, whatever you call it, the One Plus 6T McLaren Edition has is that it has added a McLaren custom theme in the Oxygen OS version 9.0.16. Other than that, everything is pretty much the same. So, there are no issues with the software as there were none in the previous One Plus 6T.
Judging by the fact that both the hardware and the software unit have been working perfectly on this phone, we can settle in the debate that this phone is indeed a brilliant on. The performance was witnessing an extra kick for the 10 GB RAM. Heavy multitasking is pretty decent, and you will find a hard time to make this phone glitch or delay. So hats off to the One Plus team for literally doing exactly what they have bragged about doing.
Now let us move on to the next segment. The next subsection is the Cameras of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition.
The Camera of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition: The Dual Camera Excellence!
The Rear camera of the One Plus 6T McLaren Edition is also identical to their previous phone, the One Plus 6T. I reckon One Plus has gone safe with the camera unit. Why do you need to change when you already have a decent one? This might be the main mantra for One Plus this time.
Anyways, the rear camera is a dual setup with a 16 MP wide-angle camera with an aperture count of f/1.7. It has PDAF and Optical Image Stabilization. The secondary camera is an aperture f/1.7 20 MP camera with a 25 mm wide lens. It also works alongside the main camera as one of the main cameras. The front-facing camera is 16 MP with an aperture count of f/2.0. It is also a wide-angle camera.
The picture and video quality are top-notch as a flagship phone should offer. One Plus has been doing a great job so far. Now let us move on to the next segment, which is the Battery of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition.
The battery of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition: The Fastest to Charge!
Perhaps, One Plus is one of the most fastest charging phone in the planet as it has insane fast charging capability in almost all their devices. This phone has a non-removable 3700 mAh battery with WRAP charge supportive. Wrap Charge is a 30 Watts Fast Charging capability that can charge the phone up to 50% in only just 20 minutes. Wrap Charge 30 is the best so far in the market.
Sensors and Other features
The fingerprint scanner is under the display and is an optical scanner. Other than that, everything is the same as the current market is offering.
Water Resistance
One Plus has not certified this phone for any Possible Water Resistance.
FAQs of One Plus 6T McLaren Edition

Wrapping Things Up!
So that was it then! If some of the biggest improvements in this McLaren Edition, One Plus has done a great job by pushing the RAM, revamping the design, add some extra features in the software unit, and provide insane charging capabilities. Overall the phone is worth all the money considering it as a limited edition. Thanks for your time. Good Bye!
