So, This is the year, 2019. Samsung and Apple have announced their flagships. Now all the eyes are on One Plus. If you guys don’t know what One Plus is capable of, then you are in the wrong place dude. But that does not mean that I am rude. I am pretty sure that you have heard about One Plus. They are commonly known as the flagship killers. So, why this absurd name? What does the phone do? Simple, they bring killer specs that rival the flagships in a much more competitive price point. This year, One Plus has introduced the One Plus 7 and One Plus 7 Pro 5G. One Plus 7 Pro has been under the radar of the tech enthusiasts for a long time. Because the amount of success the One Plus 6 Series brought last year was pretty amazing.
But new year, new One Plus device. One Plus is not that smartphone brand that bombards the market with a significant number of phones every year. They have an unusual strategy. They only produce flagship phones with the best of the specs that the market has to offer in the current times. That is why they have been producing phones with immense speed and sustainability.
The One Plus 7 Pro 5G is the latest sword in the arsenal, and I can’t wait to take it in a battle. Thanks to you guys, One Plus has recognized us and gave us a review u8nit. So, today we will be reviewing the One Plus 7 Pro 5G. I am expecting all of you to read the full review. Trust me, guys. You won’t regret it.
One Plus 7 Pro 5G Review: Never Settle!
Why do you need to settle with a 1000 dollar bill to buy the so-called flagships of the bigger dogs like Samsung or Apple? You can have the same, occasionally better performance and also end up saving a couple of hundred bucks alongside the phone. Yes, the One Plus 7 Pro 5G is priced around the 800 US Dollar mark. So it has 200 dollars’ worth savings and has the best ever experience of flagships.
Before moving on deep into the review, we will be discussing the phone’s capability in more of a distinct manner. The categories which we are going to go through is given as follows:
- Design
- Display
- Performance
- Camera
- Battery
- Sensors and Other Features
- Water Resistance
So, without wasting any other words here, let us move on to the first segment, which is the design of the One Plus 7 Pro 5G.
Design of One Plus 7 Pro 5G: The Master Class!
This phone is perhaps one of the sexiest phones in the year 2019. The full view display, the metal and glass finish and all the goodness of One Plus in one simple but the advanced device is just pushing the statement to another level.
This phone has a wide range of colours to choose from. The review unit which we have with us today is the Nebula Blue. There are two more colours up for grabs; one is Mirror Grey, and the latter is Almond.
The main attraction of any smartphone is the screen itself. One Plus did a brilliant job of making a phone this much appealing.
The dimensions of the phone are 6.40 inches in length, 2.99 inches in width and to finish things off 0.35 inches in the breadth itself. So the phone is of almost the standard size. The phone, however, is weighted around 206 grams. So, that means the phone has gained some weight. And for the metal and glass building, the phone might be slippery as well. But the rounded and tilted edges does ensure a good grip over the phone. But random daily use will surely train your muscles to hold the phone, and after a short period of time, you will get used to it either way.
As far as the attributes are concerned,
the phone comes with a curved display on the side bezels, which gives us a bezel-less display feeling. The volume rocker is placed on the left side of the phone. And on the right side, we have the power button and a Google Assistant button.
There is hardly any bezel on the top and the bottom. The fingerprint scanner is mounted in the display itself. On top of the phone, we have the secondary noise cancellation microphone and the pop-up selfie or front-facing camera. So, on the bottom of the phone, we have the singular speaker grill, the primary microphone and the USB Type C connector.
The phone really compliments the performance design-wise as it is pretty sleek and smooth. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection included so that you guys can have a tension-free experience.
So that was almost everything about the design; the design is very seductive in nature. And it has impressed me a lot. It is now moving on to the next topic or segment, which is the display of the One Plus 7 Pro 5G.
Display of the One Plus 7 Pro 5G: The 90 Hz AMOLED Treat!
The latest technology in the smartphone screen arena is the AMOLEDs and the OLEDs. AMOLEDs has been the first choice of many leading brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and others. But One Plus has taken this tech to a whole new level.
The One Plus 7 Pro 5G comes with a 6.67 inches fluid AMOLED display with the gigantic refresh rate of 90 Hz. Too much information in one sentence, right? Let me break it down for you. This particular AMOLED display has a dimension of 6.67 inches. It is a QHD screen. That means the resolution is of 1440 pixels into 3120 pixels. HDR10+ contents run like butter in this display. This display has a super refresh rate of 90 Hz. So the animation and the transitions of the phone is pretty smooth and sleek. The aspect ratio of the phone is 19:5:9. There are hardly any bezels, so the screen to body ratio is a staggering 88.5 per cent.
The PPI Density is almost 515 PPI. SO the screen is pretty vivid and bright. In the bright light conditions, this screen works like as if the light does not exist. This is undoubtedly one of the best screens in the business this year.
Now let us move on to the next segment, which is probably the most exciting segment of any particular phone according to me. We are going to push the light towards the performance of One Plus 7 Pro 5G.
Performance of One Plus 7 Pro 5G: The Best in Class!
When we talk about the performance of a certain phone, we mean the collaboration of the software and the hardware unit. You can have a killer software, but without proper hardware backup, you will fail miserably. On the other hand, your device can have the best hardware components in the business. But without the suitable software, the hardware is next to useless. One Plus has been a proud company which has been making some killer phones with great performance. But can the brand new One Plus 7 Pro 5G live up to the expectations? Or this device will fail to hit the bull’s eye? Let us find out.
First of all, we will see the software unit of the One Plus 7 Pro 5G.
The Software Unit of One Plus 7 Pro 5G
As we all know, One Plus phones run in Android. The One Plus 7 Pro 5G runs in the latest version of Android. It is the Android version 9.0; which is commonly known as PIE in the smartphone world.
Now as far as the User Interface is concerned, the One Plus phones run in their own signature OS which is known as Oxygen OS. The version is the latest Oxygen OS 10.0.4. The user experience is pretty smooth. The OS does some proper justice to the high 90 Hz display. So, the animations and the transition are pretty good. The power management and the app management is very impressive, I must say.
There are some gestures that pretty seek and user friendly in the main course of the game. But the app organization on the home screen could be better in the future updates. The Android version can be upgraded to the Android Version 10 when the upgrade notice comes up.
Now let us take a look at what the phone is made of in the hardware unit.
The Hardware Unit of One Pus 7 Pro 5G
When we talk about the hardware unit, my first concern is about the chipset, the heart of the processing unit. The chipset is as usual built by the silicon giant, Qualcomm. Qualcomm has been producing the latest and the fastest chipsets on the planet, and it has not failed to amaze us so far.
The flagship-grade chipset which is used in the One Plus 7 Pro 5G is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. This is a 7 Nanometer chipset with eight cores. However, that means it is an octa-core processor with a clock speed of 2.84 GHz in the first Kryo 485 core. 2.42 GHz in the later three Kryo 485 cores and to finish things off, 1.78 GHz in the remaining four Kryo 485 cores. So, the first core is the booster core, the latter 3 are the performance core, and the remaining four cores are considered as the maintenance cores. The Graphics Processing Unit is if Adreno 640.
The RAM is of three variant; the baseline is of 6 GB, the midline is of 8 GB, and the higher end is of 12 GB. The storage has two options; 128 GB and 256 GB. However, there is no dedicated SD Card Slot. So you will not have the option to expand the storage using external SD Cards.
Overall the performance is the best in class and does give a solid complex to the flagships of other brands. This phone did great in a very format so far. I highly recommend this phone.
Now let us see what the cameras have to offer.
