Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime Review: Is It Worth It?

Before moving on to the review and make a statement in the air, it would be unfair for my audience if I don’t examine the phone in the right way or manner. There are certain aspects which are needed to be kept under consideration while we review a certain smartphone. The aspects are:

  • Design
  • Display
  • Performance
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Sensors & Other Features
  • Water Resistance

So we will be reviewing our Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime as per the aspects, and we will try to portrait the best outcome before you guys. So let us kick in!

Design of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime: The Classy Look!

As we get our hands on one of these bad boys, we were impressed! Samsung did pull off one heck of a phone, as per the design is concerned. The phone is very classy and stylish. It will suit you well in your hand. The rectangular phone was looking good from every viewing angle.

The phone is made out of a combination of glass, aluminum, and high-grade plastic. The frame is made out of premium grade aluminum. The backside is made out of aluminum and plastic. The front part is basically the screen, and it is of glass. The dimension of the phone is 5.97 inches in length, 2.95 inches in width, and 0.31 inches in the breadth. The phone is pretty comfortable to hold, and the weight balance is very good. The weight of the phone is around 167 grams.

Now let us talk about the attributes. The front is the display itself with thick bezels on the top and the bottom. The display has very thin side bezels, which allows you to have a bezel-less video experience. On the top bezel, we have our earpiece, and the selfie or front-facing camera. The bottom bezel is our home button cum fingerprint scanner and the on-screen navigation buttons.

On the right side we have the lock button and on the left side of the phone is the volume rocker keys. The bottom of the phone is where the power port, the secondary noise cancelation microphone, and the all-important 3.5 mm headphone jack. The backside of the phone is pretty clean. Just the Camera and the LED Flash is right up there on the top-ish middle.

The phone is very handy and right about the perfect size of a smartphone. It is very seeking and unique in al perspective. I personally like the classy look that Samsung has opted to give in this finished product. Talking about finishing, Samsung has done an awfully great job as the finishing is top-notch.

We have talked about the design, now let us pull off the lights from it and focus them on the very next segment.  Coming up next is the display of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

Display of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime: The PLS TFT Wonder!

The display is probably the most exposed part of a phone. Common research has examined that 78% of people are attracted by the screen rather than the performance of the phone. And it is commonly seen in the stores that people do compromise with the performance for better-looking displays. Samsung has been the best observer in the market. That is why they are the ones with the better-looking screens in the smartphone arena.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has not been an exception. But you will be scratching your heads that how a TFT Screen can look good in the LCD Dominated arena where brands like Samsung themselves are offering LCD Screens in their phones. But! This is Samsung for you. You won’t even realize if I would not have told this that the phone has a bloody TFT Screen!

The 5.5 inch PLS TFT Screen comes in Full High Definition. That means it has a resolution of 1080 pixels into 1920 pixels. The aspect ratio is 16:9. The screen to body ratio is almost 73.3%. The PPI count is close to 401.

The screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass. The version of the Gorilla Glass is undefined. But there is protection which matters. So your phone will be scratch-proof to some extend.

We took the phone outside in the scorching sun. And oh, boy! We had so much fun and pleasured with the screen! It is very bright, and the colors are very vivid and lively. This is a great screen to look at. And I must tell you. You won’t regret it if you buy one of these.

That was all for the display. Now, let us move to the next segment. The next segment is my personal favorite; the performance of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. I always look up to the performance of the smartphone as almost everything depends on it.

The Performance of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime: The Exynos Hit or Miss?

The performance of a certain smartphone depends on two sub-sectors: the Hardware unit and the software unit. The hardware unit is basically what is under the hood. It means the CPU of the phone on which the phone gains the power to run. The software unit is the program that synchronizes with each other and runs the executions or the commands given by the user. Feeling dizzy, right? It is simply what you see and how you see the apps and the commands you give to your phone.

So, no more tech lessons now. I will not be happy if you guys get bored and leave the article. So, quickly moving on to the sub-sections.

The Hardware of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

When it comes to the hardware, the first concern of mine is on what chipset does the phone rums in. In this particular device, we have Samsung’s very own chipset from the back yard. Samsung has provided the Exynos 7870 Octa-Core chipset with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz running in eight Cortex-A 53 cores. This 14 Nanometer chipset runs as good as Snapdragons and Helios who are currently ruling in the market, The Graphics Processing Unit, AKA GPU is provided by Mali, and it is Mali T830 MP1.

The RAM is 3 GB. The Internal Storage is of two variants; the first one is of 16 GB, and the latter is of 32 GB. So the phone comes in either of 3 GB/16 GB and 3 GB/ 32 GB variant. There is an option of using dual SIM. The storage can be expanded as it has a dedicated micro SD Card Tray.

Now let us focus on the Software of the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

The Software of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

As we all know, this phone runs in Android. The Android version is 6.0.1, which is known as Marshmallow. But it can be upgraded up to Android 9.0, which is named PIE. The User Interface is One UI. It is a signature UI for Samsung, which is pretty sleek and fun to use.

The performance can be defined if the collaboration of the hardware and the software is almost perfect. The software should complement the hardware unit unless we were experiencing a phone with a lot of glitches and errors.

But not on Samsung’s watch! This phone works buttery smooth, and the al new One UI does justice to the hardware and the Android experience.

Now let us see what the cameras of this phone is made of.

The camera of Samsung galaxy j7 prime: 13 MP Full HD Recording Treat!

The Main camera is a 28 mm Wide Camera of 13 Mega Pixels with an aperture count of f/1.9. It has Auto Focus and can shoot great pictures with sheer perfection. It works well in low light conditions but is a treat when the light kicks in the environment. This camera works like a charm, and you will love this camera for everyday camera use. You won’t miss any lovely moments from now on. The main aspects of the camera lie in the recording power as this camera can shoot up to 1080p at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.

The front-facing camera AKA the selfie camera is an 8 Mega Pixels with an aperture count of f/1.9 as well. So you will have great selfies and more to it because it also can record up to 1080p in a frame rate of 30 frames per second. Both the camera works pretty well, and I am satisfied with the results. Good Job, Samsung!

Now let us talk about the battery of the smartphone, the all-new Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

The battery of Samsung galaxy j7 prime: The Powerhouse!

A phone with great battery life can be much of a wish at this time. But the wait is finally over as Samsung has brought a powerhouse in the market. It has a 3300 mAh Battery capable of giving a full day battery backup.

Sensors & Other Features of Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

The Fingerprint Scanner is front mounted. This phone has all the sensors lie accelerometer, proximity sensors, and ANT Plus.

Samsung galaxy j7 prime: Water Resistance

This is a brilliant smartphone. However, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime does not come with any sort of Water Protection certification. That means it is not water-resistant. So it is strongly encouraged by the manufacturers that you don’t dump the phone into the swimming pool.

Advantages and Disadvantages

  • Great design
  • Great Screen
  • Good Battery Life

  • The camera has no image stabilization.
  • The phone is a bit heavy.
