The top South Korean tech giant, Samsung has hinted its readiness to roll out new Android smartphones with a “perfect full-screen” and camera hidden under the display. The smartphones will have no notches or punch holes, just a full screen with all front facing sensors and camera hidden under the display.
Yang Byung-duk, vice president of Samsung’s Mobile Communication R&D Group Display made this revelation on Thursday in a press briefing. He said, “Though it wouldn’t be possible to make (a full-screen smartphone) in the next 1-2 years, the technology can move forward to the point where the camera hole will be invisible, while not affecting the camera’s function in any way.”
Yang also admitted that punching a hole in the OLED display is a very difficult technology- one which they tried in the latest Galaxy S10 and succeeded. In fact, the Galaxy S10 Android smartphones are the first to feature a hole in the OLED panel itself.
