Samsung Galaxy S20 Review: The Flagship of the Year!

When Samsung came up with the Samsung Galaxy S10, it was an atom bomb in the market. The all-new punch-hole display, the Exynos Revolution, The Snapdragon delight, The brilliant camera all came into a perfect blend and made an exciting package. But little did we know that it was just the beginning of the new evolution in the smartphone world. The hype that almost bezel-less screen has created between the consumers that it made the smartphone manufacturers rethink their strategies.

The Pooch whole display was a big hit. But the next goal of Samsung was to hit the home run, to fulfill the desire of a 100% Screen to body ratio. But has Samsung the potential to do that? Yes! But can they do it? Let us see in the review.

Before giving initial info about a phone, I would like to inspect certain categories and measures so that we can have a full understanding. The measures are:

  • Design
  • Display
  • Performance
  • Camera
  • Battery
  • Sensors and Other features
  • Water Resistance

We will be inspecting al this measure of the all-new Samsung Galaxy S20. So stay tuned and buckle up your seat belts because it will be one hell of a ride!

The Design of the Samsung Galaxy S20: The Genius Design!

This might be the biggest evolution of Samsung in recent years. If we look back to the Samsung Galaxy S6 or S7, The evolution will be more visible to us now. As we speak, the design and the build quality is pretty similar to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus. Yet6, there are some noticeable changes, and a shy addition of the weight differentiates the S10 from its successor.

The phone has a dimension of 5.97 inches in length, 2.72 inches in width, and 0.31 in breadth. The size compliments the initial weight very well as the phone is weighted as 163 grams. The frame is made out of premium quality aluminum. The front and the back is made out of glass. The backside has been updated with the all-new triple camera setup, which has a new layout.

And

The front side is basically the screen. But this time, this time! I reckon the whole front side is the screen! The punch hole has shrunk a little bit, and the placement is now in the center.

The side bezels are cut down to almost nothing. Thanks to the Galaxy Edge screen, which is curved on both sides, which makes the phone completely side bezel-less.

The top and the bottom bezel is barely there. So when you look at the screen, you will fell the best every screen experience!

Samsung has kept its attributes as simple as possible. The right side is where the lock button and the volume adjustment button is placed. The left side is neat and clean. The top is equipped with the SIM Tray and the noise-canceling microphone. The bottom part has the USB Type C charging and data port and the stereo speakers as well.

This was all for the design so far. Now let us move on to the display.

The Display of Samsung Galaxy S20: The Punch Hole Delight!

Perhaps this display is one of the best display so far in the business as the quality is concerned. This device is blessed with a dynamic AMOLED 2 X Display with QHD resolution. The resolution is of 1440 pixels into 3200 pixels. The aspect ratio is 20:9.

The Screen to body ratio is close to 89.5%. The screen is protected with a Corning Gorilla Glass 6. It is the toughest of them all in the market. So Samsung has not taken any chance for this expensive screen, which I can tell you for sure!

But the main focus is quality. And should I need to tell you about it if it has a Samsung logo on the back?!

For the formalities, I am proud to say that it is one of the best screens I have ever used before. The 120 Hz Refresh Rate pushes the screen experiences to another level. The color balance, The Always-On display, the refresh rate all adds up into the treat!

That was enough for the display. Now let us move on to the next segment, which is probably my favorite one. Let us move to the Performance!

The Performance of Samsung Galaxy S10

So, let some Mozart numbers fill in the background because I am in love fellas! The romantic music might not be enough to express my love for my girl, but it can surely express the lust for the performance of the all-new Samsung S20. But let us see what the phone has to offer. First, we will be looking at the hardware, and then we will be walking down the software section.

The Hardware of Samsung Galaxy S20

The Samsung Galaxy S20 is the flagship smartphone of Samsung. That means it will come with the best in the world, right? As I have said, The Samsung guys have heard it right!

The Samsung S10 comes with two powerful chipsets in two versions. The US version comes with the Mighty Qualcomm Snapdragon 865. This 7 Nano Meter Octa-Core chipset has been clocked at 2.84 GHz.

On the other hand, the Global Version comes with a chipset from the very own back yard of Samsung. Samsung has been making Exynos Chipsets, which is giving the Qualcomms and the Helios a tough run in the market. As this being sai9d, the Exynos 990 is the most powerful of the lot, and the all-new Samsung Galaxy S20 inherits one of this bad boy. This is also a 7 Nano Meter chipset, which is clocked at 2.73 GHz.

The GPU is the Mali G77 MP 11 for the Global edition. However, Snapdragon and Adreno have been the best combo. So, an Adreno 650 is installed as the GPU for the US version.

The RAM is 12 GB, and the internal storage is 128 GB. You can expand the storage up to 1 TB by adding an extra micro SD card in the hybrid SDXC slot.

One Plus 8 Pro Review

The Software of Samsung Galaxy S20

The Samsung Galaxy runs in the latest version of Android, which is Android Version 10. The UI or User Interface is the One UI 2. This is a signature skin or UI for Samsung, and I have to tell you that this is a pretty good UI. This UI is very interactive and is very user friendly.

The Software complements the phone’s hardware like a perfect marriage. And the combination is just perfect. It is one of the most efficient phones on the planet, yet one of the most powerful ones, of course.

Let us now focus on the Cameras of this magnificent phone!

The Cameras of Samsung Galaxy S20

The Cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S20 is the Magnifico, the El Picasa! As the pictures are the most happening and the videography is to the next level.

The Rear Camera is a triple camera setup. The main camera is a 26 nm wide camera of 12 Mega Pixels with an aperture count of f/1.8. This comes with a dual pixel PDAF and Optical Image Stabilization.

The second camera is a 29 nm telephoto camera. It is a 64 Mega Pixels camera with an aperture count of f/2.0. This has some unique features like the 1.1 X Optical Zoom and 3 X Hybrid Zoom. It also supports PDAF and Optical Image Stabilization.

The third camera is a 13 nm Ultra Wide Camera. It is of 12 Mega Pixels with an aperture of f/2.2. It has some unique features like Super Steady Video.

The auto HDR, panorama, and the LED flash does compliment the cameras big time!

Now, as far as the selfie camera is concerned, it is a 26 nm wide camera. It is of 10 Mega Pixels and has an aperture count of f/2.2. I have dual pixel PDAF.

The videography can be done up to 8K at a frame rate of 24 frames per second from the rear camera. The front-facing camera, AKA, the Selfie camera can record up to 4k at a frame rate of 60 frames per second.

The pictures and the videos are of the next level. All I can say is that you will be treated like a king! Now let us see what keeps the phone charged up and what the numbers of the power management are.

The Battery of Samsung Galaxy S20

This little bad boy comes with a beast of battery which has a hectic juice of 4000 mAh battery to power the boy to life. This 4000 mAh battery can give you a full day or a One and a half day battery life even after some heavy and intense multitasking. Thanks to the incredible power management of Samsung.

To power this amount of juice, the phone is blessed with fast charging of 25 Watts and USB Power Delivery 3.0. It also supports Fast Qi/PMA wireless charging of 15 Watts. And to keep up with the trend, it also has Reverse wireless charging of 9 Watts.

This is just icing of the cake or the last nail on the coffin.

Water Resistance

Oh, Come on! This is a flagship phone. What did you expect? Cheese Cakes?! It has an IP 68 water resistance certification, by the way.
